Are you a fan of Valentine's Day? I have kind of always been a fan of the holiday, even before I met my husband. I love the notion of showing your love for someone and possibly putting together a gift that they will truly cherish.
But let's face it, that can be hard, especially on Valentine's Day. The standards are, of course, flowers and chocolate. But that can become predictable and cliche. For me, I like to get more creative and find gifts that are more personal.
I hit my nearby Target to go on the hunt for a selection of items that would make a perfect "date night" basket for my husband. Because after all, most of us make date nights out of Valentine's Day, right? This date night basket is focused on staying at home to make your holiday memorable.
I made a video of the assembly of my Valentine's Day gift basket and I also outline what I included below. These were the must have essentials that became part of my Valentine's Day gift basket:
1. Wine. My husband and I enjoy wine together often, so this was a no brainer. Our first anniversary trip as husband and wife was to the Napa Valley. And wine definitely adds to a perfect date night at home.
2. Chocolate. Yes, I know. I mentioned the predictability of some Valentine's Day gifts earlier in my post. But I went out of my way to find one that didn't come in a heart-shaped box. There are so many interesting flavor combinations of chocolates today, I encourage you to find something your loved one has never tried before. For my basket, I chose salted caramel chocolate.
3. Boxer Shorts. My husband does lounge around the house (or in our bed!) in boxer shorts. So, a big smile formed across my face when I discovered the cute love-themed boxers that were perfect for the occasion.
4. Coffee Mug. I stumbled upon this mug at Target and was thankful my husband is a coffee drinker. Now, whether he will use it for coffee or keep it on his desk at work as a pencil holder remains to be seen, but I just loved the caption.
5. K-Y® Love. Yep, I am going there.....And why not? The whole point of my basket was to make something different, something that was really going to stand out. Well, I think my husband's eyes might pop a little when he sees the K-Y® Love tucked into his basket. A memorable Valentine's Day is definitely in our future.
